I can’t believe 2018 is almost over. I feel like the older I get, the faster the years go by. Is this how adulting works?
As I look back on 2018 and in pulling together my top nine makes for the year, I realize that a lot of change happened for me this year. The biggest change though is that I started my career back up again after over a year of personal growth and rest, which has felt great because it’s given me a bit more structure in my life – plus more money for me, my family, and my hobbies – which is always a plus!
I look back on all my creative endeavors this year and recognize that I poured a lot of my energy into learning how to sew. For the past 2 years I have primarily been knitting and crocheting. But I knew I needed to add sewing into the mix because as my fellow knitters know, there’s a limit to what you can make and knitting takes up a lotttt of time.
I have definitely been able to produce a lot more for my wardrobe ever since I added sewing to my skill set. However, I do miss knitting and crocheting! I also want to take on some hand embroidery projects. So what does this mean for my sewing? Well, this means that my goal for 2019 is to have a bit more balance between all my creative endeavors. I’m going to stick to sewing only 9 outfits next year so that I can make room for knitting, crocheting, and embroidery projects. Considering I made majority of my sewing projects between the months of August – December, I think spreading them out over the entire year will give me more time and freedom to play around with other projects. I’m going to try really hard to stick to that, because I tend to get a bit carried away.
In the meantime, I’m going to enjoy the rest of 2018 with my husband, animals, and best friend. I hope you all had a creative, mindful, and fun year – cheers to many more!
