Pajamas and loungewear are life right now. It’s 2020, we’re all stuck at home, and there doesn’t seem to be a clear finish line on when COVID will end and life will return back to normal.
When life gives you lemons, turn them into lemonade – I am using this opportunity to sew ALL the PJs and loungewear sets! I’ve been living in my Chalk and Notch Page Hoodie and True Bias Hudson Pants these days. However, as the weather is starting to cool down for the fall I realized that I need more multi-purpose loungewear that can also serve as a sleep set.
The Aware Collection Lana Set
Several months ago I was gifted the Lana Set by Aware Collection! It was so kind of her to gift me this pattern to try out, and I am so happy I got the chance to sew it! I saw a couple photos of the Lana Set on her Instagram and totally fell in love with the retro vibes. I love the button front and bell bottom style pants!
Not only did I receive this lovely pattern, but I was also gifted a gorgeous Mind the Maker Cotton Interlock Jersey from Minerva as a Minerva Maker. Mind the Maker has the most STUNNING fabrics and I feel so blessed to have received this fabric to try out! I chose this fabric specifically with the Lana Set pattern in mind, and got so excited to make such a comfy new loungewear/sleepwear set.
First Impressions of The Aware Collection Lana Set
When I received the Lana Set pattern, I really liked the simplicity of the design and pattern instructions. As a bit more of an advanced sewist, I usually breeze through the bulk of sewing instructions anyway. Just take me straight to what I need to do and get me started!
The Sewing Process
Sizing, Adjustments, and Customization
For my Lana Set, I sewed a size small. I shortened the sleeves by 2 inches and shortened the pants by 5 inches. If I didn’t shorten my pants, they would have been full length. I wanted to stick with the cropped option, so I shortened accordingly.
As I mentioned before, I made my Lana Set with the Mind the Maker Cotton Interlock Jersey. It is a heavy weight jersey knit fabric and it ended up being perfect for this set. The fabric is so soft and warm, making it a great fabric for cooler months.
Sewing the Lana Set was pretty straightforward and easy. I used my trusty serger for all of the seams, which made the process go quickly and smoothly. I really like that the instructions are clear and straight to the point.
Final Results of my Aware Collection Lana Set
I am SO happy with how my Lana Set turned out! It is so comfy and love the style so much. This is a great pattern for advanced beginners who have gotten the hang of sewing and don’t need super in-depth instructions to guide them. I will definitely be wearing my Lana Set all throughout the fall and winter!
