I am super excited to share the FIRST EVER garment that I made for my husband – a Pendleton Wool flannel button-up! My husband already owns a brown plaid Pendleton flannel, and he asked me to make him another one as it would be a bit cheaper. Plus, he knew it would help me advance my sewing skills!
Guys, I am OBSESSED with Pendleton Wool fabric. If you remember my previous post sharing my DIY Pendleton Wool Cape, I dropped a solid amount of money at the Pendleton Woolen Mills booth at the Sewing & Stitchery Expo this past March. Well, I was on the hunt for wool flannel fabric. The flannel Gods answered my prayers that day, and presented me with 3 perfect yards of the most gorgeous blue and grey fabric for his shirt! I used the Peek-a-Boo Pattern Shop Yukon Button Up Pattern. This pattern is definitely going to be a Tried-and-True pattern for our household. I will use this pattern over and over again and fill Zach’s closet with a million flannels.
To be honest, I was so scared to make a garment for someone other than myself. But after making his shirt, now I can’t help but admire my own work! Is that cocky?! I hope it doesn’t come across as cocky. But seriously, this is the most high-quality garment I have EVER made and the amount of precision I put into it surpasses anything I’ve ever made for myself. Maybe it’s being able to properly fit on another person or the pressure of doing a good job so no one notices any imperfections? I’m not sure, but I’m very proud of myself and the work I put into his shirt.
In the end, my husband was super happy with his shirt and he has worn it every week since it came hot off the machine. I can’t wait to make more for his wardrobe!
