The Greenstyle Creations Elevate Crop Top and Overlay are the perfect workout top set to sew for your next yoga, barre, or pilates class! Read more for a sewing pattern review and additional photos.
I’ve had the Greenstyle Creations Elevate Crop Top and Overlay sewing pattern in my stash for a while now. I originally wanted to sew this pattern to coordinate with my Greenstyle Creations Inspire Leggings I sewed in the spring of 2020, but I never got around to it!
When Greenstyle Creations released their Sundial Leggings, which features a crossover V waistband, I knew that the Elevate Crop Top would be the perfect match for the leggings! Sewing the overlay top was also a great addition. Since I was already making my pair of Sundial Leggings, I decided to sew a whole new head-to-toe set of activewear!
The Greenstyle Creations Elevate Crop Top & Overlay Sewing Pattern
The Greenstyle Creations Elevate Crop Top and Overlay pattern is a top set – both a sports bra style top and pullover. There are so many different views you can sew with this pattern, which makes it a great pattern for repeat sewing! You can sew a totally different set of garments with just one pattern!
Sewing the GSC Elevate Overlay and Crop Top
Size, Pattern Option, and Adjustments
For both my crop top and overlay, I sewed a size D. My measurements are 24/29/38, and the size D measurements are 34-35/26-27/35-36. I decided to choose my sizing based on the bust measurements and the fit ended up being perfect.
I decided to sew the low neckline racerback option for the crop top. For the overlay, I sewed the hemmed sleeve and tie back option.
As far as adjustments go on my Greenstyle Creations Elevate set, I didn’t adjust the crop top. For the overlay, I shortened the bodice by 2 inches so the hem sat at the top of my hips. The sleeves I shortened by 3 inches, hoping that it would be more of a 3/4 sleeve. It still ended up being a long sleeve on me though, so I would probably shorten the sleeves another 3 inches if I wanted to achieve a 3/4 sleeve. In the photo below, I have my sleeves rolled up just a bit so the sleeves are shorter.
I sewed my Greenstyle Creations Elevate Crop Top with an Olympus Spandex in the color Fern from Fabric Fairy. For my overlay, I sewed it in a Navy Lily Reaction Poly Spandex, also from Fabric Fairy. I love the earthy combination of both of the fabrics together!
Final Thoughts on my Greenstyle Creations Elevate Crop Top and Overlay
I totally love this top set! I can definitely see myself wearing just the Elevate Crop Top and my Sundial Leggings for a more strenuous and sweaty workout. If I’m doing something a bit lighter like barre, Pilates, and yoga, I’ll wear both the crop and overlay tops.
This activewear set has definitely drawn me out of my recent workout limbo. There’s nothing like sewing up a new workout set and being excited to wear it during a workout!
