Today I am sharing my beautiful new summer dress I sewed using the Simplicity 8637 Wrap Dress pattern in View D. I have a few weddings to attend this summer, and thought this would be a great addition to my spring/summer wardrobe. I attended one wedding already this season and the flounce is super fun when dancing and twirling!
I sewed it up using a gorgeous Brush Printed Viscose fabric from Blackbird Fabrics and I must say, it is the most beautiful fabric I have bought so far! It provided me with the perfect drape for this wrap dress and the ruffle detail on the skirt bottom. It is also light and airy, which is perfect for the hot summer months.
The thing I loved most about sewing this dress is that I was FINALLY able to add a midi dress to my wardrobe! I always struggled buying ready-to-wear midi or maxi dresses since I am only 5’0″. I wasn’t willing to spend money on a nice dress only to add more costs by putting it through alterations. This dress cost me less than $100 to make, and I tissue-fit prior to sewing to ensure the proper fit and length.
I look forward to finding every excuse to wear this dress in the months to come!
