I have a confession: I’m not always in the mood to sew. Sometimes I get burnt out from a project or I have other things going on in my life that are higher priority. However, I always want to keep my projects moving along, especially since I have such a long sewing queue. Can you relate?
One way that I handle this situation is to prep all my materials ahead of time! It’s a great “palette cleanser” in between sewing projects that keeps me productive. I will do activities in bulk such as cutting patterns, cutting fabric, and buying all my notions in a single shopping trip. I will then put them into plastic bags and set them aside so that I can “grab and sew” when I get my sew-jo back.
One major issue though – I was losing track of what materials I prepped or what notions I already bought! There have been many times when I bought buttons for a project, only to find out I already had some on hand. I found myself opening the bags up and digging through all my pre-cut fabric, interfacing, etc. to figure out what project it was. I also neglected to make notes on what I already prepped and what was still left to do.
My Solution? Sewing Project Cards!
Since I am a solution-oriented person who loves standardization and templates, I designed these Sewing Project Cards to log all the important details about my prepped sewing projects!
They have been a total life saver so far! I’m now able to check my Sewing Project Card for information on what I’ve already prepped and what still needs to be completed. This has been SUPER helpful, especially since I might leave a sewing project in my queue for a couple months.
How to Get Your Own Sewing Project Cards
Since these have been super helpful for me, I’ve made my Sewing Project Card template available to you for purchase in my Etsy Shop.
The Sewing Project Card is available as a printable template. I have created PDF files for you to print at home or through a copy shop. I like to buy these blank 4×6 notecards on Amazon to print them at home in bulk.
Happy organizing! If you organize your sewing projects with these cards, tag me on Insta! I’d love to see how you used them!
